Beauty is still big at Belk. In the recently concluded year, the retailer postedgains for its fragrance, color and skin care business. About 40% of sales come from fragrances, with color and skin care each generating about 30%. The iconic Southern retailer is trying to capture the next wave of consumers with the tagline: Modern. Southern. Style. The goal, say company executives, is to convince the teenager who already buys shoes at Belk to make her beauty purchases there as well....
